About Us

Our Company Leadership

Digital Geo Specialists is led by Phil Ensign and Andreas Rueger, two internationally renowned geophysicists and software developers with over 60 years of academic and commercial geoscientific R&D experience between them. During their careers, Phil and Andreas envisioned, designed, and implemented key infrastructure, algorithms, and products for Landmark Graphics/Halliburton. Clients they worked with worldwide include Equinor, BP, ConocoPhillips, Petrobras, Anadarko, Saudi Aramco and INPEX.

Software products that we helped design and develop include:

  • MVA prestack depth migration velocity analysis
  • TDQ and Depth Team Express time/depth conversion
  • Dynamic Frameworks-to-Fill geological modeling
  • Landmark DecisionSpace
  • POD cloud native seismic processing
  • SeisSpace distributed seismic processing
  • Structure-oriented processing
  • Full Waveform Inversion
  • DecisonSpace365 cloud-based Seismic Engine
  • DSG – Assisted Fault Interpretation
  • DSG – Velocity Modeling
  • SeisSpace distributed seismic processing
  • DSG, GeoProbe and PostStack seismic attributes

Our Company Goal

Phil and Andreas use their technical skills and leadership experience to guide a team of highly qualified Digital Geo Specialists with the main goal of providing high-end superior geoscience services.

Digital Geo Specialists can turn clients’ ideas into working solutions by supporting their research and assisting them with the design and implementation their new technologies. Digital Geo Specialists can process and analyze client data and propose and implement novel workflows customized to their needs. With our extensive experience implementing Landmark infrastructure and applications, we can efficiently integrate our clients’ solutions with the Landmark environment and the Open Earth Community (OEC) platform. Other services provided are high-end seismic processing and client training in a large range of geophysical technologies and applications.

Phil Ensign

Phil received a BA in physics from Whitman College and a PhD in elementary theoretical particle physics from the University of Colorado. He performed research in migration algorithms, velocity modeling and marine acquisition for Shell Development Company before joining Advance Geophysical. After Landmark Graphics acquired Advance, Phil took a leading role integrating Advance's seismic processing capabilities with Landmark's seismic interpretation. He was the lead architect of TDQ time depth conversion, MVA migration velocity analysis, Depth Team Express velocity model building and served as the chief architect of the DecisionSpace platform. More recently, He served as the development manager of Landmark's next generation cloud computing initiative. Phil has received Landmark's Top Gun award for the top R&D employee of the year.

Andreas Rueger

Andreas received MS and PhD degrees in geophysics from the Colorado School of Mines (CSM) as a Fulbright and SEG scholar. Andreas is considered an expert in seismic data processing and geoscience software development. He is known for excellent technical, communication and leadership skills, and is author of geophysical textbooks and top-ranked technical papers. His main areas of expertise are velocity analysis, seismic anisotropy, structure-oriented processing and assisted fault interpretation. Andreas is recipient of SEG‘s famed J. C. Karcher award and multiple Halliburton development awards. He served as chair of SEG‘s scholarship committee, long-term member of the SEG review committee, and Adjunct Professor at CSM. At Landmark, he has been instrumental in software product and infrastructure development, geophysical research and data processing.
